PERCEPTION IS KEY!

Has life ever thrown you are curve ball you weren’t expecting? Have you asking, “what did I miss?🤔… ” How did I not see this coming?”🤔🤔 then the shoulda, woulda, coulda song doesn’t stop ringing in your head? Very soon you are so focused on the thing you missed and feeling its impact and not once taking time to actively assess what actually happened?
It is interesting how we perceive the choices and decisions we make especially when they don’t work out how we think.
Last Sunday I was teaching about sight and how we see things. There is a massive difference between “looking” and “seeing”!
One is about a “direct gaze at a particular thing” while the other speaks on how one interprets what they are observing.
“Don’t look where you fell but where you slipped” calls attention to your focus. It’s about having insight to the thing or action before the fall. It speaks of gaining understanding and focusing on the lessons rather than the consequence.
Too much focus on consequence can lead to guilt and condemnation as it emphasises fault while focus on the lessons that were prior to the consequence; will open you up for growth and more likely not to repeat the same actions.
Where one falls and where the slip happened is not usually the same.
Understanding the root cause of why you slipped could prevent further slips and thus prohibit future falls. The unforeseeable now becomes easy to predict. Insight and hindsight are key areas one must cultivate.
THE FALL IS THE RESULT BUT NOT THE CAUSE!
We must tune in our focus and shift our perspective on how we measure choices and decisions that don’t always end up how we hoped to avoid us ending up hopeless.
A shift in focus and perception on where the slip happened will more likely assist us in evaluating the process we take.
WORD OF THE DAY; PERCEPTION
Defined as; the way in which something is regarded, understood, or interpreted.
The years teach much what the days never knew. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
