MY JOURNEY, MY STORY!!

Don’t let the expectations and opinions of other people affect your decisions. It’s your life, not theirs. Do what matters most to you; do what makes you feel alive and happy. Don’t let the expectations and ideas of others limit who you are. If you let others tell you who you are, you are living their reality — not yours. There is more to life than pleasing people. There is much more to life than following others’ prescribed path. There is so much more to life than what you experience right now. You need to decide who you are for yourself. Become a whole being. Adventure.

PAY ATTENTION!!

I have learnt that some of the biggest lessons in my life appeared in moments that I didn’t think had impact.

Teachable moments can creep on you and if you’re not attentive, you may miss them.
The most effective is not always the loudest, the biggest or even the brightest!

God is able to use your weakness to maximise a point in your life. He is able to create something out of nothing and the thing you despise may just turn out to be your salvation.

Every single aspect of your life is functioning to bring you into a place of revelation, so you may perceive that which you need to know.

So train yourself not to overlook even the smallest of urges,instincts or even moments that you don’t miss what God is trying to reveal!

“I again saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift and the battle is not to the strong, and neither is bread to the wise nor riches to those of intelligence and understanding nor favor to men of ability; but time and chance overtake them all.”
Ecclesiastes 9:11 AMP

Word of the day: ATTENTION
Definition: “notice taken of someone or something; the regarding of someone or something as interesting or important”

MAKE A MOVE!!

In this season, do not let the “what ifs” paralyse you and keep you motionless.

Move!!

Physics tells us, “To every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”…
God puts it like this, “Faith without works, is dead!”

Today I challenge you, stand up, move and get out of your own way!! Make that move that will propel you to destiny, no matter how scary, whatever you do, DO NOT do nothing!!

“Timidity is not Humility! At some point you have to move from “INTENTION” to ” EXECUTION” !!!!

LET’S TALK ABOUT DISCOURAGEMENT!

Have you ever faced discouragement?
It’s like asking someone if they have a pulse!!

We ALL have, and some are going through it…especially given the current climate, the spirit of discouragement is everywhere…

Discouragement is defined as;
a loss of confidence or enthusiasm; dispiritedness.
It manifests in different ways such as depression, hopelessness, despair, disappointment or low spirits.

Discouragement can be a hindrance,restriction and constraints, if not dealt with, it borrows into one’s soul and very soon affects us physically, psychologically, emotionally and even spiritually. The enemy is cunning and will do whatever he can to keep you in a state of unconsciousness and get you to disengage with the important things and people in your life!

One key thing about discouragement that most seem to forget, is we can overcome it using the power God has placed in us. God is not surprised when we hit this obstacle in our lives but what he does is equip us with the right strategies to fight and reminds us who we are in Christ.

Discouragement is a feeling and not a state of being..it is simply an emotional response. Since feelings are fleeting, this means it has no foundation but it’s rather a symptom and so you shouldn’t build on a “feeling”.. It is not something stable to build on because it is affected by external factors.

STRATEGIES TO APPLY WHEN FEELING DISCOURAGED;
1. Recognise it! Unless you name it, you will struggle to conquer it. Remember, there is no name above the name of Jesus and once you identify it, it has to bow.
2. Watch the words you say. Speak positivity over yourself, and remember that life and death is in your tongue. When we are overcome our voices can sometimes be out worst enemy,take control over your mind and put it under subjection.
3. Pace yourself through it…you won’t just get over it unless you deal with its causes, so take time to understand firstly how it affects you and where it manifests. Ask for prayer and support and have people stand with you as you go through!
4. Don’t see it as a weakness..it’s a process you’re going through, as long as you don’t stop pushing, God will show you a way out!
5. Learn something from it. Use it as a learning tool rather than a punishing one. What can you learn about yourself and/or the situation? What are your triggers? Can you improve coping mechanisms.
6. Create boundaries. Remember discouragement can seep into different parts of your lives. What in your life is inter mixing? What is not balancing?Find a way to separate work and home.
7. Choose your company wisely. Go where you are encouraged and supported and not where they allow you to dwell in discouragement. Seek counsel and support from friends and family that you trust.
8. Refocus your view. Perception is everything. Sometimes how we look at a situation especially over and over can affect our ability to respond effectively. What you’re looking at? Is your focus just on the issue or are you trying to find solutions? How you look at it, definitely matters!
9. Take time out for yourself…you matter..Pray, fast, read, go for a walk, whatever you need to recover and gain some strength to face another day!
10. Remember who you are! Remember this is a feeling and not a state of being, change how you speak over yourself. See yourself past your current situation and declare the word of God over yourself.

SOME SCRIPTURES TO BEAR IN MIND;

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”

Psalm 31:24

“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.”

Psalm 55:22

“Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”

Psalm 120:1

“In my distress, I called to the LORD, and he answered me.”

Philippians 4:19

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Luke 12:6–7

“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

DON’T STOP DREAMING!!

As a child, have you ever been asked;
” What do you want to be when you grow up?”
I would bet answers from doctor,police, nurse, fireman,teacher were the replies because we viewed those professions as esteemed.
What I realised was, those questions were posed to get our young minds from early to always SEE BEYOND WHERE WE WERE!

This was to get us to start understanding from early that we should dream and dream big no matter where we were from or our circumstances. To allow us to begin to exercise forethought and envision a future beyong our wildest imaginations.

God puts it like this;
For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord , ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11 AMP

Now here is my question,

WHY WOULD YOU STOP DREAMING? According to God’s plan and purpose for you, having dreams is a valid and essential part of your life story and journey.

You’re supposed to pursue the gifts,talents and call that God has bestowed upon you. He reminds us in scripture by declaring;

“For to everyone who has [and values his blessings and gifts from God, and has used them wisely], more will be given, and [he will be richly supplied so that] he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have [because he has ignored or disregarded his blessings and gifts from God], even what he does have will be taken away. And throw out the worthless servant into the outer darkness; in that place [of grief and torment] there will be weeping [over sorrow and pain] and grinding of teeth [over distress and anger].
Matthew 25:29‭-‬30 AMP

You will be tested, you will stumble and you may even fail along the way, but let this stand as a reminder that inspite of it all, YOUR DREAMS ARE VALID!! Even if no one supports or celebrates you, if they don’t give you recognition or affirm you, they are still valid. Don’t give up even when you have to stand alone, all you need is to give God that mustard seed faith and watch him fulfill HIS PLAN for you!

He encourages us by stating;

“Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.

Matthew 7:7 AMP

Even now if you listen, God is asking you,
” What do you want to be? Where do you want to go? What do you want to achieve? As long as there’s breath inside of you, you can still pursue, overtake and recover all your dreams and passions! Change what you’re looking at and keep looking forward by faith and in hope. Your dreams are valid!

Valid is defined as; legally binding due to having been executed in compliance with the law; can you understand that God spoke before you were even born and has set things up to assist you reach your goals and aims!

KEY POINTS TO REMEMBER AS YOU PURSUE YOUR DREAM;
1. Write it down and make the vision plain. You need to have a clear understanding of where you’re trying to get. Clarify your objectives and always reevaluate your tasks and plans.(Habb 2:2)
2. Don’t wait for affirmation to start, just keep at it! Celebrate yourself and learn to encourage yourself in the Lord! (Phil 4;13)
3. Study your craft/educate yourself, do your research and create opportunities.The depth of what you know will get you there faster and in all your getting, get understanding!( Prov 4;7)
4. Stay accountable to your dream, it matters that you follow it through, even on the days you don’t feel like it! (Gal 6:9)
5. Remember where you started from and keep moving forward and when you arrive, DREAM AGAIN! Do not despise the small beginnings! (Zech 4:10)

WHO IS ON YOUR BUS?

One thing that I have learnt and come to value is the impact of the people you have around you.

Proverbs 11:14 AMP states:
“Where there is no [wise, intelligent] guidance, the people fall [and go off course like a ship without a helm], But in the abundance of [wise and godly] counselors there is victory.”
You’ve heard the phrase, “Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are!”

Who you surround yourself with, attach yourself to, listen to,remain connected to, follow, take instructions from is absolutely something you must choose wisely. Clearly we are all somewhat connected but choose the connections you wish to maintain because they in turn affect just how effective you are in pursuing YOUR dreams. You get to DECIDE who rides and who doesn’t. This is your life and you do have some say.

Remember that although some people are assigned to you…not all are. Having a small trusted group is better than oceans of haters or those who don’t believe in you. The scripture emphasises the “safety” that is to be expected in the right company. If you don’t feel safe, maybe you should exit.
The issue is there is an innate need in all of us to form attachments. Truth is the whole world is built on relationships that we have with God, ourselves, others, our environment and even organisations and as such be very careful of who is on your team because a team evolves into your league. These people are key in assisting you pursue your dreams as their vision has to somewhat align with where you’re going!

It is imperative that we seek God when we form groups, coalitions and relationships as not everybody is heading where you are or better yet, want to see you reach your destination.

Word of the day: SAFETY
Defined as: “the condition of being protected from or unlikely to cause danger, risk, or injury.”
How safe do the people around make you feel as you step out to chase your dreams???

PERCEPTION IS KEY!

Has life ever thrown you are curve ball you weren’t expecting? Have you asking, “what did I miss?🤔… ” How did I not see this coming?”🤔🤔 then the shoulda, woulda, coulda song doesn’t stop ringing in your head? Very soon you are so focused on the thing you missed and feeling its impact and not once taking time to actively assess what actually happened?
It is interesting how we perceive the choices and decisions we make especially when they don’t work out how we think.
Last Sunday I was teaching about sight and how we see things. There is a massive difference between “looking” and “seeing”!
One is about a “direct gaze at a particular thing” while the other speaks on how one interprets what they are observing.
“Don’t look where you fell but where you slipped” calls attention to your focus. It’s about having insight to the thing or action before the fall. It speaks of gaining understanding and focusing on the lessons rather than the consequence.
Too much focus on consequence can lead to guilt and condemnation as it emphasises fault while focus on the lessons that were prior to the consequence; will open you up for growth and more likely not to repeat the same actions.
Where one falls and where the slip happened is not usually the same.
Understanding the root cause of why you slipped could prevent further slips and thus prohibit future falls. The unforeseeable now becomes easy to predict. Insight and hindsight are key areas one must cultivate.
THE FALL IS THE RESULT BUT NOT THE CAUSE!
We must tune in our focus and shift our perspective on how we measure choices and decisions that don’t always end up how we hoped to avoid us ending up hopeless.
A shift in focus and perception on where the slip happened will more likely assist us in evaluating the process we take.

“DO YOU BRUH!!”

“DO YOU BRUH!”
I’ve heard this saying so many times…”Do you!” they say…sounds amazing. Sounds freeing…I mean…it does sound doable… something that is finally not an impossible task… However,🙄🧐🤔…is it though?

In a world full of expectations, opinions and attachments, just how easy is it to do you?
Do you even know what you want? How do I start? Where do I go? How do I do it? Soon the questions overwhelm us till we are paralysed on the same place and position we started…

DO YOU!! This is such a valid sentiment that challenges one to find in themselves the power to exude their authentic self. This is where we struggle. ‘Do you’ puts the power you thought was on others back on yourself and asks the question ,” what are you going to do?”..It calls for responsibility and accountability for your own self! It’s not about being selfish but about being conscious in your own life. Being present and make choices and decisions that help you fulfill your God given purpose!

What we must realise is to overcome fear and paralysis when someone says ‘Do you’, is that this statement is not the end of a journey but rather the permission to explore, to begin, to find out what else you are capable of. ‘Do you’ says you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. It is the ticket to finding out your destiny, the validation you give yourself that you are allowed to live the life you choose not at the expense of others as we can’t ignore our connections but also advocates that you don’t neglect yourself!

So why don’t you “DO YOU!” and you may just be surprised with what you’re capable of and what God has in store for you…and all He is waiting for is for you to take a step of faith and follow His lead and DO YOU!!

Word of the day: DO
Definition: perform (an action, the precise nature of which is often unspecified).
